Last of the Giant Kauri Pines
The very picturesque Coramandel Peninsula of the North Island of New Zealand was once covered in dense forests of these giant trees. Their timber was so much in demand for ship building and other uses that now only these few isolated stands of individual trees remain. They are absolutely massive trees with a very distinctive bark pattern.
