This Carpet Snake is a medium sized juvenile of its kind , a Python or non-venemous constrictor endemic to this area. They are often resident in our ceilings and are generally welcome as they make a meal of any rats or mice they find. This one was out on a hunting trip on my verandah lying along the top of the railing when I went out at midnight to close up the house and was not too disturbed to pose for me for 1/2 hour. The pattern in their skin is the reason for their name and you can see this in some other photographs scattered through my galleries. This very healthy beauty was only about 6 feet long.
