Sunset on the Twelve Apostles
There never were 12 in the european history of Australia and a few weeks before this was taken the one in the foreground collapsed in an untidy heap. Seen here on the South Coast of eastern Australia off the Great Ocean Road they are pillars of soft rock and sand that once joined Australia with the Antarctic continent and are left standing as part of the constant erosion of the coastline. The Apostles are the single greatest tourist attraction of this long stretch of the coastline. The Great Ocean Road is one of the worlds greatest scenic drives.
