Brolga Man
Papua New Guinea has more than 600 cultures and a seemingly infinite range of ceremonial dress traditions. Improvisation is also a large feature when preparing for special occasions. This however is a painting using mixed media that I did in1978 after I had left Papua and it was purely imaginary. I started drawing and began to ask myself how a PNG man might dress if trying to emulate the Brolga. This was the result and some traditional art forms are included taken from a variety of sources and modified to blend into the theme.
