Papua New Guinea Intensity
The original is a 30X22in mixed media painting in egg tempera over painted in oils and finished in an impasto style. I lived for 5 years in Papua New Guinea as they went from self-govt to independence and in one generation from a stone age world of more than 600 language groups and cultures to the modern world. I was a trainee surgeon and university lecturer at that time but always practicing my art interests on the side and now more full-time. This painting evokes in a imaginary constructed way some of the rich culture and atmosphere of this fascinating country. The colors are warm and low key with a rich glow.
