Koki Market 1974 PNG
The original watercolor was painted over 30 years ago and is believed to be in a private collection in Japan. I was living in Port Moresby and several paintings of Koki Village and its Market were painted for long term expatriot residents leaving to go home for the last time - going finish - and wanting something to value and keep as a reminder of their many and varied experiences living in one of the most beautiful and exotic places on earth. Papua New Guinea gained full independence in 1975 having been under Australian Administration for decades. Many Australians had spent most of their adult life there.
